Adaptive Crossroads was founded by Brandon Herring, whose passion for serving individuals with disabilities has been shaped by more than 15 years of hands-on experience working directly alongside individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. Throughout his career, Brandon has dedicated himself to helping individuals build confidence, improve their health and wellness, develop life skills, and discover opportunities to live more independent and fulfilling lives.
His experience spans adaptive fitness, health and wellness, community education, life skills coaching, healthcare readiness, communication, community safety, and inclusive programming for individuals of all ages and abilities. Over the years, Brandon has worked closely with individuals, families, caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to create meaningful opportunities that promote growth, confidence, and lifelong learning.
Brandon's journey began through Special Olympics, where he discovered a passion for coaching, mentoring, and helping individuals achieve goals they never thought possible. It was also through Special Olympics that he met his wife, Jill. Their shared passion for serving individuals with disabilities became the foundation of both their family and their lifelong commitment to creating more inclusive communities. Together, they have spent years coaching athletes, mentoring families, volunteering countless hours, and advocating for opportunities that allow every individual to reach their fullest potential.
Those experiences ultimately inspired the creation of Adaptive Crossroads. After witnessing both the incredible potential of the individuals they served and the challenges many families faced in finding lifelong opportunities for education, recreation, wellness, and community involvement, Brandon envisioned an organization that would bring those opportunities together under one mission. Adaptive Crossroads was founded to provide individuals of all abilities with a place where they can continue learning, building friendships, developing new skills, and discovering what is possible throughout every stage of life.
Brandon believes that true independence is built through opportunity, encouragement, and meaningful relationships. His leadership philosophy is rooted in meeting individuals where they are, celebrating every success, and creating environments where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to grow. That philosophy continues to guide every program, partnership, and decision made by Adaptive Crossroads.
Today, Brandon and Jill continue to lead Adaptive Crossroads with the same purpose that first brought them together—serving others. They remain committed to working alongside families, volunteers, schools, healthcare professionals, businesses, universities, fellow nonprofit organizations, and community partners to expand opportunities for individuals of all abilities. Together, they believe that when a community comes together with compassion, collaboration, and a shared vision, every path truly leads to possibility.
